menschen vor profit
Sunday, January 18th, 2009so looking forward to 20 Jan. On that day war will be over, america will be driving plug in hybrids, using nucular, solar, wind, and hydro power, beluga whales will be breeding, everyone will have health care, the death tax will be back to 50%, Shasta McNasty will be back the air, everyone will be unionized, the rich will be taxed so that everyone who wants to will be able to go to Harvard (not just the rich relatives of rich children of former students), and by extension anyone can once again be president, Tupac will be in shopping malls everywhere, we’ll give all the stolen land back to the mexicans and indians…
yeah. It’s morning in america again…

Wednesday, January 14th, 2009Russian Colleague: I really like your great 19th century beard. It was a great romantic era. It’s a pity more men don’t wear beards like that anymore.

I’m still trying to figure out the statue of limitations on how soon you are expected to recover after bad things happen…
i.e. How soon after the fact can you can say things like “it happened”, “turn the page”, “we get it…it was grim, move on”, “dealwithit”, “get over it”, etc.
i.e. slavery, genocide, war crimes, the Crusades, the holocaust, The Spanish inquisition, the creation of Israel, voter fraud, being lied to, being slapped, overly-hot coffee, overly-cold food, bad service at a restaurant, bad Indian food, Yoko Ono, your second grade photo.
i.e. if someone is willing to say something like “the crusades were a long time ago, it happened, deal with it, move on”, then 2 seconds later someone farted in their general direction would they immediately say “Oh well…life goes on”.
If not what’s the real difference between the two?

Is that communist or libertarian thinking to say that all words and music belong to “the people”?
Is Jorge Lukaas going to suit me for mimicking Chewbacca?
Julia (upon hearing Possessed by Paul James): He’s funny, but it’s giving me a headache.

Paul, Simon, and the Rhythm of the Saints
Friday, January 2nd, 2009Thanks to ,,Vampire Weekend” for inspiring me to make an effort to learn what an oxford comma is…They’re so punk for bucking American English establishment.
They still only make me think of Paul Simon’s ,,Rhythm of the Saints” when listening to their album. To my well aged ears he would be their biggest single influence.
They are also to be commended for writing songs about things that are important to them…I’m feeling strangely empoweredinspiredidealistic, and stuff. Allow me to illustrate below:
