It's springtime at Paulskirche.
Saturday, February 28th, 2009The Italian restaurant and creperie down below has put out the tables so people can eat outside and it’s above freezing…It’s spring!!!
there's a racing stripe on my sock…I think it makes me faster
Friday, February 27th, 2009On TV Monde (French TV channel) they’re showing some show honouring Dustin Hoffman. They showed clips from all his films (clips in english of course because the french think that the voice has something to do with acting…pfffftttt. bloody french), and I realize that I have never liked any movie he’s ever been in except ‘All the presidnents men’ which I liked in spite…I really can’t stand him. In the last three roles I saw him in he was just bad…the ‘Meet the parents’ sequel and ‘I heart huckabees’ (J’adore Huckabees), and ‘Perfume’ he was just playing a sort of smarmy, annoying dude that I’ve suddenly decided he was just playing himself and he’s just not likeable.
…and since I’m on the topic of acting I have to mention that I’ve seen two Brad Pitt movies this week and I recall that I’m always impressed with him in spite of all the ‘celebrity’ that surrounds him (turn off). ‘Snatch’ and ‘Burn after reading’ were great because of Pitt.
…and off to Italy in a month…yay!
sacre bleu!!!
Friday, February 27th, 2009after a particularly difficult work week I took today off…I have no plans, but to visit the new Saturn (an electronics store), and possibly visit the wine market this afternoon. Going to be a nice relaxing day!!!

FASCHING PICS
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009- this landmark is referred to as ‘the statue of liberty building’. It’s the only way I can ever find the fox n’ hound…still figuring out why I would want to find that place…don’t ever eat there ;)
- Nothing to do with fasching, but the old Jewish cemetery near my flat.
- which one came first?
- this is my rug from Ikea…dude’s wearing a rug…If I had known this was socially acceptable in DE I could have started doing all my shopping at Ikea years ago…
- hamburgler…
- tradition and Fasching is what makes germans happy!
- it’s a duck…
welcome to New Orleans…
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009I guess it’s Fasching this week…some states in Germany (and Russia) get a holiday. The police are already blocking off the street here so I assume there will be a parade. I’m going to take pictures! Costumes are cool!
mystery meat….
Friday, February 20th, 2009I just came from the Rewe (a grocery store) in Sachsenhausen. While wandering through the meat section I for whatever reason remembered how strange I thought the meat selection was when I arrived in Deutschland. I don’t really notice anymore, but the grocery foods are one of the funny things that differ from culture to culture.
anyways I saw some weird meat in it’s own weird juices that got me thinking about this again.
I can’t wait to get to Italy and experience shopping in a strange place all over again…
I’m l istening to Son House right now…wiki page. Fascinating life story and great music. I think my dad gave me a double CD of his about 15 years ago (I still have it). The music is great…
They're showing "bandits" on TV…
Monday, February 16th, 2009It was filmed in Oregon…I can hear the seagulls…
what do the neighbours think?
Sunday, February 15th, 2009I always fantasize that my german neighbors (ok on my floor I have two german gay dudes, an asian lady, and an italian dude) scratch thier collective heads when they walk by my apartment door and hear the music I’m playing. (sidebar – the flats here are built so much better than in the states. You rarely hear any noise from the neighbors except when you’re in the stairwell/hallway when the noise sneaks out the front door).
I’m sure it’s mostly music they’re not heard of before (lately it’s a lot of folk music from various cultures, american, irish, eastern european). I’m doing my part to bust american stereotypes…if I had thought this whole line of blabbering through I could tie this into a point about how it seems americas main export is music/tv/film and that is the reason people have opinions on the usofa. Cuz at this point I’m not sure what else america is leading the world in/on…
segue…segue…segue…
I got nothin…
Today I downloaded Odetta, Son House, The Pack A.D., and Doomtree…which one of these 4 is not like the other???
don't bring it up!!!
Saturday, February 14th, 2009Every day is Valentines day!
I’m so used to putting three exclamation points on everything that seeing only one in the line above somehow doesn’t seem to convey my excitement…It’s like I’m cheating Valentine himself.
