ok since my dad asked for it…an actual update…just the facts.

In a small town in Italy.
Eating pizza most days.
Work is good. Learning new stuff. Same company.
Using a company car for the moment while I try to figure out if I can get a scooter or have to ride a bike.
In a company flat for a couple months while I look for something new.
Most of my stuff is still in Frankfurt. I miss it. Not complaining about the heat for the past 2 days since it finally cooled down.
Also still searching (pining) for live music. The town is fairly small and it seems the best entertainment is to have children…hours (decades) of entertainment, misery, pain etc ;)

Still just trying to figure out how things work in Italy and get around etc. Hopefully that won’t take too long.
Catching up on music and movies I haven’t had time to get to of late.

When my stuff arrives (mercifully) I’ll be able to play my guitar and have hours of entertainment unpacking boxes. I want to get my own place because it’s going to feel like a 3 months business trip until I have a “home”. I’m looking forward to painting or dinking around my own place…

Gone are the days of the blog wars and trading comments and the wittiest of witty banter, the in-jokes and the just bizarre observations and critiques

The clash are the most overrated band of…ever!!! Or am I lacking perspective that only comes from being alive in a certain era?

I have 0 facebook friends in Italy.

I had written to Matt about a band called “Babyshambles”. I just heard them for the first time recently. I’ve yet to determine where I got the music from, but now that I have too much free time I’ve been catching up on all those things. Anyways…Didn’t realize it was a Pete Doherty (sp) band. It’s just so hard to keep up with BritPoop nowadays…

I’m serious as cancer – when I say rhythm is a dancer.

so Saturday…did a bit of scooter window shopping. Went to a bike shop. Did some laundry and started reading a book I bought the other night. “The Monster of Florence”. True story of a serial killer around Florence. The bookstore only had about 8 english books, so I ended up paying too much for this, but hey – what can I do. Pretty good so far. I had heard of the book before. It’s supposed to be pretty good.
Currently listening to the “Guana Bats”. An early psychobilly band.

Kind of bored again…I have a book, some PC games and movies, so I think I’ll survive another day ;)

Today went to a bank…the dude was very old but very nice…I gave him all my documents and he kept calling me josepp or joseppi…apparently he has to ask his boss if it’s ok to open an account for me. He’ll call me tomorrow. After I was in there I got the impression it wasn’t a major bank, but sort of a small town thing. He was nice though. He tried to speak english even though he was about 70 years old…At one point he was holding out his hand and using his fingers to count off…I…you…we…them…or something like that. I quite liked him. Alessandro was his name.

Tonight I had pizza near the hotel and then went down to the beach (only about 100 meters) and then had 2 glasses of wine for 2 euros. I gave him a 20 and he asked for 2 euros. I figured it would be 12 euros for the two glasses and he just wanted to give me back a 10 in change, but no…it was in fact 2 euros for 2 glasses of wine. I’m making friends already ;)
this sounds like an email I just wrote…hmmm…

Work is good. I stay busy which I like.

No Phone yet. I’ll try to do that tomorrow, but I guess I have to wait to see about the bank account first.

It gets dark early here. I can’t believe it’s already 9:20 and dark. We’re further south than Frankfurt so I guess I shall conclude that the dark days of winter aren’t quite so dark here as they are in Frankfurt, and the long summer days aren’t quite so long.

“The Notebook” is on TV right now. The Billie Holliday song is on…that old familiar…something…not depressing at all…Now I get to add a Billie Holliday tag to this blog :)

boooooring…

…didn’t make it back out from the hotel tonight. I wish I had a book to read.

I’ve just turned on the TV to find an Ashton Kutcher movie in Italian. This is making me reconsider my whole life ;)

There is a cat (gatto) on the balcony opposite mine…it’s hair is too long so I’m guessing its friend/owner must have lots of time to clean.

strangest kebap ever!!!

Tuesday, September 1st, 2009

so I broke down and got a kebap on the way home (that’s how they spelled it in this shop). Click here for alternate spellings…
it contained some new things…as in chips (fries), katsup, and mayo…the chips tasted like fish so as a whole it sort of reminded me of a filet-o-fish from the land of golden nuggets. ewwwwww

Got registered today…I guess I’m sort of officially Italian now. Stopped in the vodafone store to see about a phone and one girl there spoke english and told me to come back tomorrow as her shift was almost over. I will try to do that in the late morning when it won’t be too busy…Then I’ll have a phone.
