For my pa…

Since my dad asked…

My new guitar is a semi hollow body. It’s the same body shape as a Les Paul…much thicker and lighter, but with a much different sound (more twang and a LOT of sustain). I really like it.
My LP copy is just set up for slide now. I’d say I’m improving a bit, but am still a far cry from decent.

…and happy birthday dad. I guess this is the last (only) time I’ll be half your age. Downhill for both of us now 😉

In other news…Now that I have all my documentation for Italy I am getting the Vespa (Julio: it’s not a scooter…it’s a Vespa…). Doing the title transfer et-al this week. Thanks Piero!

Tom has 42 friends…

Stop it tom 😉

well that was a productive Saturday morning…

I got up this morning about 8 and so far today I’v had 2 coffees, ridden a bus, a train and two taxis, picked up my Permesso di Soggiorno (Permit of stay), bought some clothes, bought a guitar amp and made it home at 11:55. Not sure why but Saturday mornings are usually my most productive 4 hours…

Alles klaar!

I think a lunch, a DVD and a nap are well deserved 🙂

Guitars…

Here’s a pic of my second guitar. I realized I didn’t put up a pic after I got it a few weeks back…
the mandolin does not get it’s own pic because all it does is taunt me…

Thanks dad for the guitar books!

Does this mean Berlusconi is now MY president?

I guess I’m picking up my residency permit thing tomorrow. Not sure how long it’s been waiting for me, but apparently it’s ready for me to pickup. This means I can finally get that scooter.
Ha! No more bike rides out of necessity…

This also means I now have a ride back to Frankfurt if/when that ever comes up again 😀
Ok the thought of driving through Switzyland on a Vespa is not funny at all…Does anyone remember Dumb and Dumber?

My phone tells me it was 10° today. That’s really about as warm as it needs to get I think. Can we just stay like this until next October, or am I going to be forced to complain about the heat for the next 6 months or so???

at last…

I finally got some mail from the city hall (or something). It wasn’t the mail I was looking for. I’m still waiting for proof of my residence so I can buy a scooter, but instead I get some kind of bill for garbage. Great. They can’t give me something I need. Instead they send me a note asking for money. Nice job!
I’m going to single handedly keep you in the Euro zone by paying my garbage bill. I’m so important…

…at least they know where I live. I’m going to sleep good tonight.

hey…remember that time in Bratislava?

I had my energy up tonight (after a week of sitting home), so went to the pub for dinner and after staring at the menu for half an hour I decided on a SALAD!!! Now this is a rare occurence. I wasn’t really hungry, but felt like I should eat.
Whilst waiting I tried to remember the last time I actually ordered a salad as a meal…and I think it was Bratislava…Feb 2008. That’s 2 years people (for the science challenged yanks). 2 years and I had a salad…hmmmmmmm.

Weird…I still distinctly remember the salad I had in Bratislava. It was rather green pepper heavy I thought…but for whatever reason I have a clear memory of it. It probably cost .90€.
It was tasty….

I give this story a 2…

If the highlight of your day is lunch or a nap then you’re either 5 years old or sick.

In my case it’s a tie (lunch and nap). I havn’t been anywhere but work for almost a week now. Boring!!!

oh…I forgot to water the plants

For me, watering the plants means pushing them out from under the covered part of the balcony to the uncovered part where the rain will fall on them.
I knew rain was forecast and usually when that’s the case I push them out. They get too much water and then go a couple weeks without water when I push them back under the covered part…
(I give that story a 0.0)

Had a flu for a couple days this week. I found out today that if you call in sick in Italy you’re supposed to go to the Dr. that day.
In DE you don’t need to go to the Dr until you’re going to miss your third day of work. This means I have to go to the Dr. after the fact and get a note. I’m still contemplating just using a vacation day because sitting at the Drs office for a couple hours doesn’t sound very fun.
(I give that story a 0.1)

It might snow in the next day or two.
(…can.barely……zzzzz)

Can’t say no to chicks with banjos…

It’s sort of like springtime.

I heard birds singing today.

…and cheers Matt for sending me the Stoneking 7 Nation Army cover. I couldn’t find it on youtube, but since I was looking I’m gonna post a couple vids of him.

Saw this guy as well at a little club in Frankfurt. There was about 30 people there I think. Great show!

The below clip was apparently with a borrowed guitar (hence the new strings and problems).

This is great…When I have nothing to say I’m just going to keep annoying the Italians with music clips…

apparently he’ll be in Portland July31-Aug2 in case anyone around there reads this and made it this far 😉
