Carrara Marble Cave and Roman bridges…

Yesterday I got a sunburn and trespassed  in order to take photos 🙂

The cave was much neater than I expected. Note to tourists…Go for the tour!!!

Canevando – Sunday – Verona – Monday

So Saturday we started at 10am. You walk to 6 different vineyards, and they give you food and drink at each one. Lovely area….Way too hot and bright. By the end I was kind of burnt, but it was a great time nonetheless. Good people. Good drinks. Good scenery. Fantastic. Looking forward to the next one!

and then on Monday we stopped in Verona for lunch. I had not been there, but I will go back! I think Id like to see an opera in the amphitheater.

Marostica

This weekend took a trip with Daniele, Jenny, Leo, Maristella, Toto and Anna.

Here is part1.
Left Saturday morning, and had lunch in this town. Was very charming. The climb wasn’t as bad as it looks. I was worried I wouldn’t make it, but it turned out ok 🙂

There will be more pics in the next days!

Rostolena

Lovely weekend at Leo’s country house!

There was food, wine, a boat ride, a crazy soviet defector and then spend the night in Florence with my old mate Luca.

I guess the Soviet defector deserves some explanation…dude was renting boats out at a lake near Florence and kind of creeped us all out. He asked where I was from. I said Portland, Oregon and he said something like “I know exactly where that is. There is an FBI listening post there”…uh ok…I dunno. He went on to say something about “being a real man” and you have to do something “when enough is enough”. Anyway he was weird and creepy in a way I hadn’t felt since I met some ex-yugoslav soldier defector guy in Frankfurt. When someone brought out a camera he made sure to stand back and say No pictures of me! Sure thing mate.
I’m not actually sure where he was from. He had a bizzaro posh english accent, but he did say something like “I was a solder on the other side”….OK friend. Im not your enemy!!! It was a bizarro 15 minutes we had to hang out with him….

Otherwise everything was great! Thanks Maristella for making me a model 😉 (see photos)…

I think one of my favourite things about going to Rostolena is that Leo lets me play whatever music I want and since there is no distraction (TV, computer, books etc) I really get to listen to the music in a way that I don’t normally get to do…Kind of weird, but great to focus on nothing but music.

Good to see Luca again. I think it had been almost 3 years. We just walked about Florence and had a pizza for dinner, but it was good.

Now its 3PM and Im going to cook and have a nap 🙂 All in all a great weekend! Good friends. Good times! La bella vita!
